Beach Property For Free
Hainan Island is not well known outside of Asia, at least not yet. In Asia, Hainan Island is known as the “Asian Hawaii.” It is a tropical paradise. When you think of China you are not likely to think of a place that ranked number two in the world for the cleanest air, but that is the air quality ranking of Hainan Island according to a 1995 assessment by the World Health Organization. The average year round temperature on Hainan Island is 77 degrees F.
Hainan Island’s economy has lagged behind the rest of China. There is very little industry on Hainan Island, and that is why the air is so clean. The people of Hainan Island have relied on fishing and agriculture. Tourism is a relatively new concept on Hainan Island, with the first international hotel being built there in 1999, just eight years ago. The central government of China would like to see more development on Hainan Island. If you are a developer you can capitalize from this situation.
The central government has been trying to promote Hainan Island. They have encouraged and subsidized international events such as the Miss World beauty pageant on Hainan Island. The Chinese government has also hosted various international events on Hainan Island in an effort to bring attention to the island.
In my circle of acquaintances in China I learned that the government is willing to offer incentives to lure international developers to Hainan Island. I expressed an interest in the concept of developing an international tourist beach hotel on Hainan Island and my Chinese acquaintances misunderstood my level of interest. I was just curious. They called some government officials and then got back to me a couple of days later asking when I could meet the government officials on Hainan Island and inspect some available beach property in the prime tourist beach area of Sanya. Developing an international beach hotel is way out of my league, but if it is not out of your league I can hook you up.
The cost to build an international beach hotel on Hainan Island would be very reasonable, especially considering that the prime beach property will cost nothing, and labor next to nothing, and even building materials, appliances, furniture, glass, and paint are much less expensive in China than anywhere else in the world. I am not a developer and I cannot quote what it would cost to build an international beach hotel on Hainan Island. However I do know what apartments in China usually sell for. Construction costs in China are very low. Brand new apartments in some cities in China sell for less than $4000 USD (no that is not a mistake, four thousand dollars for a brand new apartment).
The tropical jewel of Hainan Island is starting to develop. Some big international hotel chains including Sheraton and Holiday Inn have already built hotels on the prime tourist beach area of Sanya. Last I heard, the government still wants more development on Hainan Island and they were still willing to offer incentives to developers, including free land right on the best beach in the prime tourist area.
