NSF Patients Still Requiring Gadolinium Dye May Find Decrease of Symptoms With Alternative Dye
NSF is a seriously debilitating condition that affects a rare population of kidney patients who have received gadolinium dye for MRIs/MRAs. Recently, a study found a potential treatment that may decrease the severity of NSF developing in at-risk patients.
A study published in the journal Radiology may offer exciting insight into a new dialysis that has been found to improve the side effects of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) among kidney disease patients.
The study found that kidney disease patients may suffer from NSF after receiving gadolinium contrast dyes from magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, however, when these patients were administered hemodialysis, their symptoms were less prevalent.
