188 Stage Heros Journey (monomyth) - Fish Out Of Water, Ordinary Self

FORWARD

Kal Bishop’s 188 stage Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the hundreds of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188+ stage template. Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you are to succeed in the craft.

[The terminology is most often metaphoric and applies to all successful stories and screenplays, from The Godfather (1972) to Brokeback Mountain (2006) to Annie Hall (1977) to Lord of the Rings (2003) to Drugstore Cowboy (1989) to Thelma and Louise (1991) to Apocaplyse Now (1979)].

How To Write A Nonfiction Book

I’ve had 16 nonfiction books published with two more under contract and a third in negs, so am probably classed as a veteran by now!

Here are my top tips on how to set about writing a book

1. Plan your book very carefully and thoroughly. You will need to show a fairly detailed chapter breakdown and structure as part of the proposals unless you’re self-publishing, but in any case you’ll need this to work from. Take it from me - the more effort you put into planning and structuring, the easier it will be to write your book in the end. You will also save a lot of time in the long run, because with the plan it’s very simple and quick to shift things around and try out various running orders until you hit on the right one. That process becomes a lot more complex and time consuming once you’ve written the first draft.

Technical Reviewing Basics - Tips For New Reviewers

Reviewing another author’s work is fun. With so many different items posted on the Internet, looking for feedback, it is tempting to give writers encouraging and helpful reviews.

It is true to say that the content of an item is the most important. This is what will grip the reader; this is what the reader will remember. However, if the reader stumbles over technical errors, I think it is fair to assume that sooner or later that reader will give up and move on. Not a pleasant memory, then…

First Impressions Count

I like to travel in a jacket and dress slacks. People have often asked me why. The answer is that I think I get better treatment. Over many years, I’ve proven that theory to myself, although some of the examples may be arguable. This has not been a scientific study, after all.

I just got back from Kansas City. On the way there, I had to pick up a pre-booked rental car. The agent tried to up sell me, of course, and I had to tell her that the car was booked by a third party and I had no flexibility in price. However, I ended up getting an upgrade anyway - four levels above what was originally booked.

Choosing Your Words

The English language has borrowed extensively from other languages. The result is an enormous vocabulary of some million words, many with similar meanings. Roget’s Thesaurus, for example, lists almost 100 synonyms for insane and over 150 synonyms for destroy. From this abundance, writers choose the words that best fit intended meaning and individual styles.

You Can Write Copy That Sells

Ever since I became a freelance copywriter, people have asked me how I do it. When talking about themselves, they say, “Oh I’m not creative” or “I know what I want to say, but I don’t know how to say it.” My reply is always, “just say it!”

We all know that good copy needs a structure; it needs to be in the right tone of voice and it needs to capture and hold the attention of the reader, inspiring them to act. To buy!

Advertising Article Marketing-advertising Article Marketing Explained

Advertising article marketing is the perfect opportunity to show potential clients how article marketing really works. In advertising article marketing, all of the key elements utilized by the article marketing service should be implemented. Backlinks redirecting a potential client to a name squeeze page are more effective when overly obvious in advertising article marketing.

Samples of articles should be made available in advertising article marketing to those willing to provide an e-mail address and name, giving the article marketing service a shot at a solid lead. Advertising article marketing should be clean and concise. There is a lot of vague terminology used in Internet commerce that should not be included in advertising article marketing. A potential client should never be made to feel uninformed by attempts in advertising article marketing.
