Six Big Reasons Why You Should Learn To Let Go
Tears of sadness streamed down my face as I did what I knew I had to do. LET GO! Why was I crying? Because in my heart, I knew I had to write the goodbye letter, but my head really didn’t want to! Why does letting go cause us so much pain? Is there an easier way to release objects, relationships, and situations? You bet there is, but it’s something you’ll have to LEARN to do.
Why do you have to LEARN how to let go?
Letting go is one of the most unnatural things you’ll ever do. We all tend to hang onto stuff, people and situations. It starts early in life with a blanket, a pacifier, or a favorite stuffed animal. These things are replaced over time by “stuff” we collect that helps us feel accomplished or safe. Other pacifiers include food and anything that gives us perceived pleasure. Because we are programmed with these tendencies, “letting go” is a skill that must be learned.
What are the benefits of learning to let go?
Change is natural; it is part of life’s natural rhythm. However, not all of us have learned how to release the past so we can move forward. Perhaps we believe that if we hang on tightly enough, things will stay safe and predictable. Unfortunately, that’s just not true. Life is still going to change. If you try to hang on and resist change, all that will happen is you will get rope burns. The more you learn how to master when to let go and when to hold on, the fewer unnecessary scars you will pick up along the way.
What is the mindset that will help you let go?
These thoughts will help you stay on track:
There is nothing wrong here - I’m simply moving forward. I’m creating momentum and flow. I’m choosing growth instead of stagnation. I’m grateful for the ride! What have I learned? I’m leaving one situation with honor (versus running).
What are the 6 big reasons why you should learn to let go?
1. You will have a lot less clutter in all areas of your life.
2. You will feel happier, with less stress.
3. You will be more grateful.
4. You will allow yourself to graduate onto something better.
5. You will have more clarity.
6. Your self respect/self esteem will increase significantly.
In summary:
By ending the patterns that cause you to resist change, you can get your momentum and flow back. You must learn the key elements of change in order to cause as little damage to yourself and others as possible. Once you learn how to let go effectively, you will open up new opportunities that did not exist before. By learning and adopting these powerful attitudes that support change, your life will become easier. When you learn to apply change principles, you will win.and so will everyone around you!
May your life be filled with endless change that shows you how truly easy and fun life can be. This may be the change you’ve been waiting for - don’t resist it! Let go and make change happen!
