Chihuahua Facts And Info

Named after the sovereign state of Chihuahua in Mexico, the Chihuahua is the smallest dog breed in the entire world. The dog’s head resembles the shape of an animal, and the nose (muzzle) protrudes pointedly from the head. Gigantic, rigid ears and big, round eyes distinguish this little dog from its companions in the dog world. The average height is 6 to 10 inches, but the maximum heights can reach 12 to 15 inches. There are two varieties of Chihuahua: the long-haired and short-haired (smooth coat). Oftentimes, the two kinds appear in the same litter, and it’s really only the American Kennel Club that places them in separate categories.
